Frau*-Sein und schwanger werden gehört traditionell zusammen; jede* sollte sich Kinder wünschen, spätestens ab dem 30. Lebensjahr muss sie* sich positionieren: die biologische Uhr tickt! Im Schatten bleibt, wer von dem vermeintlich romantischen und natürlichen Prozess abweicht - die Kinderwünsche der queeren und "Anderen", die Retortenkinder, kinderlos glückliche Frauen. Warum wird Weiblichkeit mit Gebärfähigkeit gleichgesetzt? Wer darf oder muss wie und mit wem schwanger werden?

Wir verwandeln eine KiTa in das LABOUR_LAB und experimentieren mit marginalisierten Perspektiven auf Schwangerschaft. Es wird gegessen, gebastelt, gekuschelt und getanzt. Wir bieten Schwangerwerden-Vorbereitungstips, tanzen mit verlorenen Eierstöcken und stoppen die biologische Uhr.

Being a woman and getting pregnant traditionally belong together. Every woman should want children. Once you’re into your thirties you’re expected to make up your mind, and fast, because – your biological clock is ticking! Experiences and realities that do not accord with mainstream ideas of romantic love and natural instincts – queer or otherwise “different” people’s desire to have children, women who are perfectly happy without children, in-vitro babies – are banished to the shadows.

 

Why is femininity conceived as dependent on the capacity to bear a child? Who may, and who should, get pregnant, how and with whom?

We will turn a daycare centre into a LABOUR_LAB and experiment with marginalised perspectives on pregnancy. We will eat, snuggle, dance and do crafts. We’ll offer pregnancy preparation tips, dance with lost ovaries and stop the biological clock.

We use "she", "her", "women" etc in an inclusive sense that acknowledges that gender is socially constructed. We oppose essentialist and biologically determinist understandings of womanhood and femininity. Claiming that there are necessary connections between a person's genetic sex and their behaviour or sense of self is not only bad science but also conservative politics. Trans women are women.
